Nancy Mattson

Nancy now lives in London having moved there from the Canadian prairies in 1990. Her first collection was a prize-winner in Canada and her poems have also been anthologised there and in this country. She organises ‘Poetry in the Crypt’ in Islington together with Mike Bartholomew-Biggs. Her poems are a rich mix of Canadian voices and themes and Finnish family stories and myths. They have been described as moving between menace and generosity, loss and renewal and reflection and exuberance, taking in along the way totem-pole raising, ice-fishing, eel mongering and watching drive-in movies.

Roger Caldwell

Roger lives locally and has been an enthusiastic supporter of poetrywivenhoe from the start. He has lived in Canada, Germany and Iran and these different cultures give his poetry a distinctly unparochial flavour. His themes are wide-ranging – literary, religious, philosophical but his poems are lyrical, strewed with rich images. He has been widely published in magazines, is included in anthologies and has several collections to his name.
