It is Day 500 of the daily new poems – an achievement. Even more so when you think of the four years that the daily poems have been going since the first UK coronavirus lockdown – giving us a cache of some one and a half thousand poems, for which I thank you. The first 200 have been published in our four ‘Poems in Lockdown’ collections (some still available – see the Books page). And here today our poet Gordon Hoyles contemplates some Spring flowerings.
Spring flowerings
Blasé,
the bud will unpeel
and reveal
like a beautiful sinner
ineluctable.
Naturally
seductable
the bees visit.
All welcomed
with reward
only stinging
those who interfere.
