Speaking of Summer courtship on this Day 546 of the daily poems, our poet Tony Oswick is playing with fire …
Mount Edna
A mountain of anger, a bellicose dame
Who goes through the roof and repudiates blame.
A craggy volcanic whose lava’s on view
Just blowing her top, making all the air blue.
When she goes through the roof and repudiates blame,
She’s irked, incandescent, a rage you can’t tame.
She blows off her top and makes all the air blue
And foams at the mouth like an overcooked stew.
Though irked, incandescent, a rage you can’t tame,
Hot under the collar, an ill-tempered flame,
I adore her mouth-foaming and overcooked stew
My big angry Edna’s my blazing love true.
Hot under the collar, my dearest old flame,
You’re my mountain of anger and bellicose dame.
My big angry Edna, my blazing hot blower
My craggy volcanic, my own Krakatoa.
