Day 687 – The rime of the ancient Fungi (AndyRoo)

Today, Day 687 of the daily poems 21 October 2024, is the 252nd anniversary of the birth of Samuel Taylor Coleridge, 1772-1834.  Is this our poet AndyRoo? It is an ancient Mariner, and he stoppeth one of three. With his long grey beard and glittering eye, “I have a short Found Poem for thee!  It comes from an article in The Guardian last week, titled, ‘Fungi could be given same status as flora and fauna under new conservation plan’.  I took the first phrase of the second paragraph, adding three phrases nearly adjacent to one another from the third …”  “Hold off! unhand me, grey-beard loon!”
