Today 10 November 2024 is Remembrance Sunday, 106 years since the guns fell silent. It is the world’s tragedy that the guns never remained silent. And it’s Day 707 of the Daily Poems. Our poet Anne Stewart dutifully wears her poppy. But …
Remembrance
I buy a poppy for every jacket
and wear them all for weeks.
There’s always a man
with smooth cheeks
dying to have his say.

We’re only supposed to
remember them
one day.
