Day 716 – Autumn (Adès)

On Day 716 of the Daily Poems our translator-poet Timothy Adès invites us into the world of Maurice Carême (1899-1978) the well-known Belgian poet.  Add Carême to your list of famous Belgians …

Autumn

On his mouth-organ
Autumn plays
in woodland ways.

They love it, the leaves!

Away they waltz
on the arm of the breeze.

Someone said they are dead
which no-one believes.

On his mouth-organ
Autumn plays
in woodland ways.
