Day 790 – con templo (Marriage)

Consider carefully: it is the first day of a new month, it is Day 790 of the Daily Poems, and it is the last day of our poems of Regrets and Uncertainty.   Our poet Alwyn Marriage is here uncertain, deprived of light.

con templo

Passing suddenly
from bright sunshine
into almost total darkness
I can see nothing,
except for the half-hearted
red flickering of sanctuary lamps
in gloomy corners.

Unknowing,
deprived of light
I wait for vision,
not grappling to pierce the cloud,
still unaware of milky forms emerging
high above my head
where glimmers of inspiration dream of dawning
and stone walls and arches sing.
