Day 798 of the Daily Poems. Our poet Brian Ford introduces us to beautiful Lyndsey.
Imago Dei
Lyndsey limps and sways when she walks.
Sometimes she waves her arms and flaps her hands.
She doesn’t speak,
but she often makes sounds.
Lyndsey likes music,
she rocks back and forth in time to the rhythm.
She might smile when she sees someone she knows.
Lyndsey will never tell a lie or play the hypocrite,
or hurt friends with scornful, thoughtless remarks,
or treat others with deliberate cruelty.
She gives her carers the opportunity
to show gentleness, care and compassion.
Lyndsey is beautiful.
