Day 822 of the Daily Poems and it is a bright March day for us and for our poet Anthony Watts …
Lawn speedwells
Stealthily, stitch by stitch, they infiltrate
the lawn’s tapestry with their lagoon of flowers:
suddenly, this bright March day,
they are everywhere, each replicated cup
a perfect sky, a milky-blue
presentiment of summer. Yet the lightest breeze
will set them trembling on their filaments
like water – as though all heaven hung by a thread.
