Day 494 – Spring sonnet

Day 494 of the daily new poems.   Our poet Mary Walsh wonders at an Earth renewed.

Spring sonnet

Now the garden comes to life in bloom
sprouting, burgeoning life springs green and new
with the promise of colour breaking through
filling up the senses as it grew
These tender plants are nurtured from the gloom
of winter’s darkness into spring anew
and summer pushes in through rain and loom
above our heads, the sun dispels the dew
Clouds run from its beams, earth dons costume
of vivid green, pale yellow, red and blue
From earth springs life like babies from the womb
beds golden, red and filled with violet hue
stretch before the eye to meet the blue
completing the picture of Earth renewed.
