Day 728 – Unlatched (Pink)

Today on Day 728 of the Daily Poems we encounter our first Portal as we step through the interface between two months.  We only have to lift the latch of the old door, alongside our poet Colin Pink.

Unlatched

Step out early into the cobbled yard;
bright light etches precise shadows.

Grasp the old door’s thin iron handle;
rub your thumb over its reluctant lever.

A stubborn click lifts the latch; pull
and rasp of wood; judders on the sill.
