On Day 730 of the Daily Poems our poet Anthony Watts finds a portal in the countryside at a certain point on a railway line. Anything might be possible.
Portal
Where the old railway cutting
becomes the old railway embankment –
where the track
and the fields each side of the track
are, for a short distance,
all three on the same level plane –
the hedges have been removed, so that a tractor
might cross from one side to the other.
I came there on my walk,
and fancied for a moment
that anything might be possible
in a world where such portals exist.
